The things people ask

Is ClearChat really free?
Yes — there's no paid tier, no trial and no card to enter. Because calls run directly between the two browsers, there are no per-minute costs to pass on to you.
Do I need an account?
No. There's nothing to sign up for and nothing to download. You start a call, share the link, and the other person taps it.
How many people can join a call?
Two. ClearChat is built for one-to-one conversations, which is what lets the connection stay direct between the two devices instead of being mixed together on a server.
Is the call encrypted?
Yes. WebRTC encrypts audio, video and messages end to end between the two devices, and the keys are never shared with us. The signalling relay only carries the brief handshake that helps your browsers find one another.
Is there a time limit?
No. Calls last as long as both of you keep the tab open — there's no server holding the call, so there's nothing to cut you off.
What do I need for it to work?
A recent version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, on a secure (https) connection, with camera and microphone permission. It works on phones, tablets and computers alike.
Why did my call fail to connect?
Both people have to be on the page at the same time — there's no ringing or voicemail. Some strict networks (corporate firewalls, or two phones both on mobile data) can block a direct connection; switching one side to Wi-Fi usually solves it.
Can I call the same person again later?
Yes. Every call you start is saved to your contacts list on the home screen, and you can give it a name. Tap it to call that person again with the same link — you only ever have to share it once.
