About ClearChat
ClearChat is a free, no-fuss way to talk to one other person — voice, video and messages — straight from your browser to theirs.
No accounts, no apps, no middleman
There's nothing to download and nothing to sign up for. You open a call, share a link, and the other person taps it. That's it.
A direct line between two browsers
ClearChat uses WebRTC to open a peer-to-peer connection. Your voice, video and messages travel directly from your device to the other person's — they don't pass through, and aren't stored on, a server in the middle.
A small signaling relay helps the two browsers find each other at the start (it carries only the brief "handshake," never your call), and then steps out of the way. Everything you say is end-to-end encrypted between the two devices.
Your contacts stay on your device
When you save a call, the link, label and call history are kept in your browser only — never uploaded to us. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Honest about the limits
- Both people need to be online at the same time — there's no server holding a call open or "ringing" someone.
- It needs a modern browser and a secure (https) connection.
- Call quality depends on your networks; some restrictive networks may block a direct connection.
- Because the connection is direct, the two of you exchange IP addresses (this is normal for peer-to-peer).
ClearChat is provided as-is, with no warranties — see the Terms and Privacy pages.
