Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 June 2026
The short version: ClearChat has no accounts and no database of users. Your calls are peer-to-peer and end-to-end encrypted — we cannot see or hear them, and nothing about their content is stored on our servers. The things you save (contacts, labels, call history) live only in your own browser.
Your calls
Voice, video and chat travel directly between the two participants' browsers and are end-to-end encrypted (WebRTC DTLS/SRTP). They do not pass through our servers and are never recorded or stored by us. We have no technical ability to access the content of your calls.
What is stored on your device (not by us)
To make the app work, your browser stores the following locally (in localStorage / IndexedDB). This data stays on your device and is never sent to us:
- Your saved contacts: the call link/room ID, the label you give it, and the other party's connection fingerprint.
- Call history shown in your list: the last-call time and duration.
- Your chosen language and a one-time identity certificate used to recognise trusted contacts.
You can delete all of it at any time by removing individual contacts, or by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
The signaling relay
To connect two browsers, a lightweight relay briefly passes the connection "handshake" (technical setup information, which includes IP addresses) between the two of you. This handshake is not stored — it is forwarded in memory and discarded, and the relay holds no logs or history of your own. Because connections are peer-to-peer, the two participants necessarily learn each other's IP address.
Hosting and infrastructure
The site and relay run on Cloudflare. As our infrastructure provider, Cloudflare may process standard technical request metadata (such as IP address and timestamps) for security, reliability and abuse-prevention, in line with its own policies. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Analytics, fonts and cookies
The website loads a few third-party services that may set cookies or receive your IP address as part of normal web requests:
- Google Analytics — to understand aggregate, anonymous usage of the site. See Google's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — to display the site's typefaces.
- If advertising is shown on the site, ad partners may set their own cookies; this is governed by their respective policies.
You can block or clear cookies in your browser, and use browser settings or extensions to opt out of analytics.
What we do not collect
- No account, name, email or phone number is required or collected to use the service.
- No call content (audio, video or messages) is collected, recorded or stored.
- No contact lists or address books are uploaded.
Children
ClearChat is not directed at children and should not be used by anyone below the minimum age of digital consent in their country. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
